History of the Butter Cow:
The Dairy Council of Utah/Nevada has a long history of sponsoring the "Butter Cow" at the Utah State Fair. Over the years, sculptors of the "Butter Cow" include: Deborah Brown, Barbara Westover, Matt McNaughtan and Clay Brown. Check out our gallery of photos to see past sculpture designs.
In 2011, we decided to involve Jr. High Students in the Butter Cow design process and launched the "Butter Cow Design Contest." The contest takes place in April/May and the winner's drawing will be transformed into the sculpture for the State Fair in September.
