'Leading Out Loud'
Speak and be heard with skills that inform, motivate & inspire
A Communications Workshop for Health Professionals
The Dairy Council of UT/NV is excited to once again bring you the annual Breakfast & Briefing. This yearly meeting has become a Dairy Council tradition offering health professionals, school nutrition experts, and dietetics students the latest in dairy-related scientific trends and new research. This year, in 2011, we are proud to sponsor renowned communications expert, Joan Horbiak, MPH, RD who will present a valuable, interactive workshop for health professionals titled "Leading Out Loud". In today's nutrition environment, simply knowing the facts is not enough. Leaders must be able to deliver their nutrition messages with authority, credibility and clarity. Attendees can expect to leave the session with essential skills for effective communication. Each of the 7 communication skills will be presented using the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, and science-based dairy facts as the backdrop. Expect to leave feeling empowered to use your voice as a professional to communicate what you know about dairy and healthy eating to a wide range of audiences.
Leading Out Loud will show you how to:
- Use proven tools to create nutrition messages that matter
- Communicate your message clearly and concisely
- Handle conflict and tough questions with authority
- Capture and keep attention with the "3 V's" (Vocal, Visual & Verbal)
- Turn science into sound bites and social media headlines
- Avoid the 10 most common communication traps
