Halloween – Keep it Reasonable
Halloween is so much fun for kids and adults. With increased focus on health and wellness do your part to keep it a healthy holiday. When kids come home from trick-or-treating with bags filled with goodies, some treats better than others, keep focused on the message that all foods can fit. The key to healthy eating habits is variety, balance and moderation.
With that message in mind, here are some tips when planning for “after treating”:
- Agree in advance on how much candy they can eat when they get home
- Agree in advance on when they can eat the candy
- Check all candy and goodies when they return home, discard questionable items
- Separate into “ favorite” and “not favorite” piles
- Remember to keep kids active as they begin to consume all their goodies.
