Healthy Halloweens
As the ghosts and goblins get ready to head out the door to trick and treat be sure to fuel them up so they aren’t tempted to snack on candy along the way. Pick easy, fun foods to start them out:
- On cold evenings try chili with shredded cheese
- Think of fun sandwiches cut into spooky shapes made low-fat deli meat and cheese
- Sliced apples with peanut butter
- Add a glass of chilled milk; make it flavored to increase the fun!
As you head to the store to load up on Halloween treats think about trying something instead of candy. Mix up the bowl with a variety of goodies like:
- Mini rice cereal bars
- Mini juice boxes
- Mini bags of popcorn
- Mini dark-chocolate bars with nuts
- Cheese and cracker packages
- String Cheese
- Granola bars
- Stickers
No matter what they bring home in their Halloween bags, help your kids ration their treats and remind them to brush their teeth after they enjoy their snack.
